In August, le Norwegian State Monopoly organised a blind tasting of Burgundy Pinot Noir wines. We're happy to say that Burgundy Hills ranked # 2 amongst 35 competitors.

Planted at the foot of Burgundy’s hillsides where it first originated, Pinot Noir has demonstrated its unique capacity to fully express its finesse and delicacy for over 700 years.

Burgundy Hills is a Burgundy Pinot Noir that stems from the unique alliance between the best that innovation can offer and the great Burgundian tradition of ageing wines in oak barrels.

With charming landscapes with wood-covered hillsides, well-exposed vineyards, and bucolic pastures, the Hautes-Côtes are located in the hills overlooking the Côte de Nuits, south of Dijon. At an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres, the landscape is hilly, with a harsh climate (hot, dry summers, cold winters), which explains the courage and solidarity of its inhabitants.

Vines have been cultivated here for centuries. In the Middle Ages, Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Vivant grew the finest of wines here, undoubtedly taking advantage of the cool climate which favoured the delicate blossoming of this divine nectar.

The Burgundy Hills Winery entrusted a young French designer, FX Ballery, with the delicate mission of creating THE BURGUNDY HILLS glass. He came up with a surprising, innovative glass that also takes inspiration from the great French tradition of glassmaking.

This limited edition BURGUNDY HILLS glass has been designed to elegantly bring out all of the organoleptic qualities and magnificent elegance of the Pinot Noir varietal.

The shape of the glass, evocative of the hills of the Hautes-Côtes, allows young wine to breathe while developing the aromas along the glass’s delicate sides, concentrating all of the wine’s appeal.

A small "hill" inside the glass is a technical feat that favours breathing of the wine and the development of its aromas. The Burgundy Hills glass is mouth-blown by passionate craftsmen who possess centuries-old know-how.

Just like the Burgundy Hills PINOT NOIR, the BURGUNDY HILLS glass is a fine example of innovative design created by the finest craftsmen.

We had different people - no great specialists, just wine lovers - try Burgundy Hills. These consumers enjoy opening a bottle of wine as a before-dinner drink, or when sharing a meal with friends.
